3-23-08 I didn't win, but it sure was fun!
Thanks for voting for me :-) Please check back for results after the 21st of March. I got a total of 39 votes and I appreciate every one of them! The top dog with 500 votes will automatically win, but a separate vote by judges will also be determined. Although I probably won't win, it was fun being up on the site for a while. Until the next time...:-)
2/9/08 My mom entered me in the Humane Society of the United States Spay Day USA 2008 photo contest. It's all about the difference your pet has made in your life! (and I guess I've made a difference in their life) Mom & Dad think I'm special, so they put me out there. I'm a great example of why you should spay/neuter your pets (I'm 7 now and was neutered at 4 months old). Although my personality is great, any litter of mine would have a great chance of being blind (or worse)...it's that Merle gene. Besides that, there are way too many "unwanted" pets that die daily due to lack of loving families, so please spay/neuter your pets!
I'd love to be "famous" for at least 15 minutes in my lifetime, so if you get a chance, please click on my picture above and hit the "vote for me" button (1 vote per email)...I'd really appreciate it. (Bet ya didn't know I could type, huh?...Mom got me a brail keyboard :-)...she's thinks of everything!)
This is what she wrote about me: "Although Dimmer is blind, he is INCREDIBLE! Not a day goes by that we're not amazed by his capability, determination and creativeness. He has taught us that whatever obstacles we face CAN be overcome with a little effort, love and a new squeaky toy."
Thanks for your votes, Dimmer
Hi, I'm Dimmer, a lethal white Aussie mix (one of my parents was a "lethal" and I think the other might have been a Golden Retriever), and I'm totally blind. Debbie DiCicco, Shelter Manager at AAWL (she doesn't work there anymore so alot of dogs like me won't be so lucky) saved my life. Life here is pretty good and I get around just great (I follow all the other "aussielads", but don't tell anyone...they think I do it all on my own). I have a special "safe place" (my crate) that I can run into when I'm not sure what's going on. Mom had to put a lock on it to keep the door open because all my brothers kept closing it...and I'd run into it 'cause I didn't know it was closed (Don't you think that's mean?). I also have a crate in the bedroom (with the door open) so that I can sleep in there if I want to.
I arrived here at 3 months old and I'll be 3 years old on September 22, 2003! I can now go through the doggie door at top speed, never missing a beat. If Mom changes the furniture around, she always lets me know (by "showing" me where things are). Being blind isn't so bad, I simply use my hearing and my smell to figure things out. You can find many pictures of me throughout the website, so take your time and look around.
Thanks for stopping by...and please come again.
